Menopausal Rag Doll

 
Holly Hobby boards
the punk rock bus,
 
pink and prairie windblown,
untidy patchwork skirt
 
and briar torn braids
peeking out from
 
an enormous bonnet.
Her red lipsticked mouth
 
pouts under the weight
of Laura Ashley decadence,
 
yet goes unnoticed
by the transients
 
of oddball reality.
Slumped in her seat,
 
the menopausal rag doll
absorbs silent tears
 
into the back of
a plump cotton hand
 
as the road stretches on
beneath a flat, apathetic sky...
